Gaither Vocal Band member Mark Lowry is leaving the gospel quartet on Dec. 31, after 13 years. Lowry, who is also a comedian, joined the group in 1988 and has been with the band the longest of any member with the exception of Bill Gaither himself.
Lowry says his plans after he fulfills his commitments for GVB and solo dates are to relax and just see how bored he can get.
Other former GVB members who have gone on to launch successful solo careers include Larnelle Harris, Steve Green and Jonathan Pierce.
