RICHMOND (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Based on their highly successful marketing, sales and operational efforts at the Greater Richmond Convention Center (GRCC), the Greater Richmond Convention Center Authority (GRCCA) extended Global Spectrum's management contract.
"We are very pleased with the way Global Spectrum has operated the Greater Richmond Convention Center," said Cecil R. Harris, chairman of the GRCCA Board of Directors.
The GRCC ended its fiscal year 2006 with 409 events, 101 more than what was budgeted and produced a positive variance of $502,340 for the fiscal year end. "We are very honored to continue in our role as operators of the Greater Richmond Convention Center," said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. "Our on-site staff is truly dedicated to making the Richmond Region a tourist destination and the facility a must-book facility for local, regional and national events."
Global Spectrum was selected to manage the new Greater Richmond Convention Center in 2001. The GRCC is the largest project to date as a result of regional cooperation between the City of Richmond and the surrounding counties of Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover making it the largest meeting and exposition facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The 178,159 sq. ft. exhibition floor is the largest exhibition space in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its 30,550 sq. ft. grand ballroom is the largest in central Virginia which creates a new venue for banquets, dinners and social functions. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
