HOLLYWOOD, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Lorenzo Soria was re-elected President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) for the 2016-2017 year at the organization’s annual election meeting. Soria will continue his presidency, adding to the 3 years he’s previously served (20032005, 2015-2016) as President at the HFPA.
“For more than 70 years, the HFPA has had the privilege of celebrating storytellers who’ve brought us some of the greatest stories of imagination, courage, and transformation,” said Soria. “In this next year we are not only thrilled to continue our work, but also committed to expanding our philanthropic programs so that we use our platform to empower these same qualities in people and communities we serve throughout the world.”
Soria will be joined by Meher Tatna, Jorge Camara and Serge Rakhlin, who were re-elected as vice president, treasurer and executive secretary respectively.
Soria is Argentinean born, and raised in Italy where, after completing his studies he became a journalist for the most prestigious Italian news weekly, L’Espresso. Since 1982, he has lived in Los Angeles, where he continues to work for L’Espresso and also for the daily, La Stampa.
