Ontario's AG To Look Into Ticket Resales

ONTARIO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Ontario's attorney general is set to launch a probe into secondary ticketing after public outcry after many fans of the Tragically Hip were unable to obtain presale tickets for the tour.

According to the Toronto Sun, Attorney General Madeleine Meilleur is responding to fans across Canada who complained via social media when tickets for the tour sold out almost instantly during a presale on Monday, only to reappear on the secondary market priced many times face value.

Meilleur said she understood why fans would be upset, and indicated that her the ministry intends to look into secondary market pricing.

However, Meilleur noted that she did not feel that the province's decision to scrap a law that prevented primary ticket sources such as Ticketmaster from owning secondary market sites such as TicketsNow, the Sun said.

"The intent was to prevent this from happening," Meilleur told reporters. "And I'm very sorry for the (fans) of this group that they have to pay a great price to go to the concert." – Staff Writers
