MEMPHIS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Jimmy Lee Lindsey, Jr., better known by his fans as Jay Reatard died in his sleep on Wednesday morning. He was 29 years old.
Lindsey had a prolific recording career, producing 22 full-length albums and more than 100 releases while he worked with numerous bands such as The Reatards, The Lost Sounds, The Final Solutions and the Angry Angles.
Lindsey also toured extensively, notching up almost 1000 live performances in more than 20 countries around the world.
Lindsey was in on the business side as well and together with Alix Brown of Atlanta-based punk outfit, The Lids, formed the indie label, Shattered Records, which released albums for many of Lindsey's projects as well as other artists such as Jack Oblivia, Tokyo Electron, Carbonas and Digital Leather.
Funeral arrangements are being made, and a memorial service is being planned in Memphis with more details to come. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
