PARIS, France (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation is apparently bringing two of their major festival brands to Europe in 2017.
In an interview with French magazine Télérama's Jean-Baptiste Roch, Live Nation France’s managing director, Angelo Gopee said that Paris would be playing host to a French edition of the popular American Lollapollaza festival.
Lollapalooza Paris will be the fifth international expansion for the festival brand, which, in addition to its customary home in Chicago, is also produced in Sao Paolo, Brazil, Santiago, Chile, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Berlin, Germany. Gopee told Télérama that the Parisian edition of the festival will take place on July 22 and 23 at the Longchamp Racecourse, which also hosted Live Nation's Download festival's Paris expansion, which launched last year.
At the same time, rock band System of A Down's touring itinerary hinted that Live Nation might be planning to launch an edition of their Download festival in Madrid this year when they listed a performance there in June. The leak was later confirmed when the official web page for the festival went live.
Download Madrid will take place on June 23 & 24. As of yet, System Of A Down is the only band confirmed for the show and they have yet to reveal a venue. The festival has been a mainstay of the British summer festival season since 2003 and last year, it launched for the first time in Paris. – Staff Writers
