Michael Scanlon Named Rose Garden GM

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) —
Michael Scanlon has been named facility manager of the 19,980-seat Rose Garden arena in Portland, OR.

Scanlon is an 11-year veteran of public assembly facility management with experience in administration, operations and the booking and implementation of events at arenas and stadiums throughout the United States. He spent the past four years as general manager of the Global Spectrum-managed Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ, where he provided the leadership and direction for the facility.

"Mike is an incredibly talented, decisive and effective leader with an extensive background in successfully operating public assembly facilities," said Peter Luukko, Global Spectrum chairman and Comcast-Spectacor Ventures president. "Mike will utilize all of the resources to enhance the customer experience, cultivate new relationships in the Portland area and increase booking opportunities for the Rose Garden."

"Our plan is to institute a positive attitude and atmosphere at the Rose Garden, borrowing from and the best of what we do at our other facilities in North America to enhance the experience of attending an event at the Rose Garden," said Scanlon. "Quality events and superior customer service are priorities that are very important to us. This is reflected in Global Spectrum's proprietary "how You Doin'?" program, a customer friendly philosophy that makes each visitor feel important and appreciated by the arena's staff."

Scanlon joined Global Spectrum in l995 as an event manager at the Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, NH. He later assisted in the opening and became the first director of operations at the World Arena and Ice Hall in Colorado Springs, CO, in l996, and then assistant GM at the Sovereign Bank Arena in l998, overseeing the opening of the facility.

He is a graduate of the International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) Public Assembly Facility School in l994 and has been an active member of IAAM since 1997. He was named Global Spectrum's General Manager of the Year in 2002. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
