LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — 20th Century Fox's dark fantasy 'Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children' took the top spot at the box office in its debut weekend, earning an estimated $28.5 million North American and $36.5 million internationally, according to figures compiled by comScore.

Directed by Tim Burton, the film stars Eva Green as the titular Ms Peregrine and Asa Butterfield as the protagonist.

The China based romance film 'I Belonged To You' opened in just four territories but took the #2 spot, earning an estimated $33.925 million on its second weekend in the cinema.
