LONDON (Hypebot) – Despite decent sales, the often controversial Morrissey has been dropped by Capital imprint Harvester Records weeks after the July 15th release of his 10th studio album, World Peace Is None Of Your Business. As with most Morrisey news, the announcement came via his semi-official fan site "True to You".
Three weeks after the release of Morrissey's World Peace Is None Of Your Business(#2 UK, #14 US), Capitol Records/Harvest have ended their relationship with Morrissey, as directed by label boss Steve Barnett.
Morrissey is once again in search of a record label.
As has happened before, Morrissey may be the source of his label troubles. Commenting on some fan videos that were getting some attention Morrisey chided Harvester for not producing their own: “A similar document ought to have been harvested by the record label,” he wrote. “Please understand that the pop or rock industry can be as dedicated to perpetuating public deception as the world of politics itself,” he continued. “God bless social media!”
He also noted the lack of PR: “I have not received any television invitations – worldwide! – to either discuss 'World peace is none of your business', or even to sing any songs from the album.”
