SOMERSET, UK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Organizers for the Glastonbury festival, the world's largest outdoor music event, have announced that due to the 2012 Olympic Games, the fest will take a hiatus in 2012.
Glastonbury was scheduled to take a planned 'fallow' year in 2011, but they are now planning to push that back to coincide with the Olympics. Glastonbury's 'fallow' summers are designed to give the land on which the festival is staged a year to recover
Festival head Michael Eavis noted that the competition for transportation, portable toilets and police, who help with security for the event would have been fierce in 2012.
Tickets to the 2011 return of the festival have already sold out after going on sale earlier this month. A lineup for 2011 has yet to be announced. – Ian Courtney
