Passion Pit Cancels Australasian Tour

CAMBRIDGE, MA (CelebrityAccess) — Electropop group Passion Pit have been forced to cancel their upcoming tour of the Pacific Rim due to ongoing health issues for the band's frontman Michael Angelakos.

Canceled dates include the band's shows in Australia in August, as well as appearances in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan.

In a statement released by the band's management through promoter Frontier Entertainment, a rep for the band said:

"Passion Pit has been forced to cancel all international shows, including shows in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, and Australia. Doctors have now mandated that the next few weeks be used for rest and recuperation.

"It is with a heavy heart that we make such an announcement, and Passion Pit has never been to many of these countries. However, we are left with no choice. Michael Angelakos is devastated and would like everyone to know that he's working to get healthy as soon as possible. No other tour dates are affected by this issue.

"Passion Pit will work to visit all of the countries involved as soon as possible, and Michael and the team would like to thank all of the promoters and fans for their patience and understanding during this difficult time. All we can say is how grateful we are for the opportunity and, in better health, that we greatly look forward to making up these shows and seeing everyone soon."

While the statement did not reveal the nature of the illness, the band canceled a spate of dates last month, with Angelakos writing on their Twitter page that he had been hospitalized with bronchitis/pneumonia. – Staff Writers
