NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Country band Rascal Flatts latest album debuted at No.1 on the Billboard U.S. Album charts with sales figured that towered over major releases by other bands such as The Foo Fighters, R&B star Keyshia Cole. This marks their third album to debut at No. 1.
They had a lot of competition, with 11 of the top 20 albums being released this week. Other newcomers included Queen Latifah, who posted at 11th, Melissa Etheridge, who debuted at 13th, Joni Mitchell at 14 and Toni Bennett at 16.
Still, things weren't all puppies and sunshine for Rascal Flatts. Despite their strong showing, Billboard reports that their third album posted significantly lower sales than their last release, a phenomenon that was echoed across the board. And according to Billboard, although sales were up 9.2% from last week, they were still down by 8.5% from the same period in 2006. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
