TUSCALOOSA, AL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The city of Tuscaloosa has appointed Wendy Standeffer Riggs to the post of director at the under construction amphitheater.
As Director of Amphitheater Operations, Riggs will report directly to the Mayor and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the amphitheater, including coordination with the City’s consultant, Red Mountain Entertainment, in the booking and promoting of events. She will also be responsible for renting and reserving the facility, directing box office ticketing and coordinating with City departments and volunteers in the preparation and planning for various amphitheater events.
Riggs is a Tuscaloosa native and has 28 years of experience in theater and arts management, development and consulting, including a stint as Theatre Manager for the Bama Theatre from 1983-1986.
Riggs holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Arts Administration and Theatre Management from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Technology and Stage Management from Auburn University. She is currently the Managing Director for True Colors Theatre Company in Atlanta, Georgia, while concurrently serving as the Interim Director at the Centre for the Living Arts in Mobile, Alabama.
Rigg's prior experience also includes a stint as General Manager Atlanta's Cobb Energy Center, where, she oversaw the $145 million facility that included a 2,750 seat performing arts center, 10,000 square feet of ballroom space, two outdoor special events spaces and a 1,000 space parking deck.
She also took a turn as Assistant General Manager at the 4,600 seat Fox Theater in Atlanta. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
