MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Attorneys for Shoreline Amphitheatre Partners have lashed out at the city of Mountain View, California, which claims the concert promoter owes $3.6 million on its lease for the venue.
The lawyers are rebutting the city’s claim, saying that Mountain View has been on a “fishing expedition” to extort money from the entertainment company.
“They are trying to extort money from our client,” Shoreline attorney Keith Fong told the Mercury News. “They defendant is a deep pocket, and they know it.”
The city released a 25-page audit that claims the operators of Shoreline and Bill Graham Presents, both owned by parent company Clear Channel Entertainment, underreported gross revenue by $20 million between 1999 and 2004. The reports claims Shoreline failed to pay more than $2.6 million in rent and late fees, and another $1 million in related costs.
The audit also claims that the venue never provided the city the agreed upon cut of parking fees, totaling $347,000, after the amphitheater stopped charging for parking and added a $3.75 fee to each ticket. Shoreline fully disputes both claims. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
