Under the new leadership of Andrew Lack, Sony Music has formed a new music division to develop new hip-hop artists.
Sony Urban Music will be headed David McPherson, who most recently served as executive vice president for A&R and urban music at Sony's Epic label. The new urban music
division will include rap, hi-hop and R&B-tinged pop. McPherson will report to Sony Music
president Don Ienner.
Among Sony's urban acts are Destiny's Child, Ginuwine, Killer Mike, Macy Gray
and Nas.
