TRIESTE, Italy (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — An under-construction stage being prepped for a show by Italian rocker Jovanotti collapsed, leaving one worker dead and eight injured.
According to Italian news agency ANSA, a 20-year-old apprentice worker named Francesco Pinna died when the stage's front buckled and collapsed, causing scaffolding to fall on the workers.
Jovonatti canceled the show and left a message on his Facebook page and expressed condolences to the families of the injured and killed. He also appeared to take pains to distance himself from the workers, noting that they were contract employees rather than regular employees of his tour and had been hired in concordance with employment law.
Jovonatti went on to note that incidents like this are "really hard to predict. This morning the first surveys of the engineers have not yet managed to understand the dynamics of the accident." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
