The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park and Campground joined a worldwide musical tribute to Wall Street Journal reporter and terrorist victim Daniel Pearl on October 10. Pearl was an avid bluegrass musician and would have turned 39 that day. Pearl's family and the Daniel Pearl Foundation appealed to music organizations worldwide to join in Daniel Pearl Music Day.
At the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park's 700-seat music hall, Bluegrass radio personality and emcee Don Miller lead a gathering of musicians in an open stage program that was dedicated to the late reporter. They performed before the backdrop of a 30-foot by 20-foot American flag that was hand-stitched by thousands of patrons of a music festival at the park to honor the heroes of 9-11. The program was free to the public.
