LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWIre) — Ticketmaster appears to be closing in on a deal to be the official ticket reseller for the National Football League.
According to Businessweek, the major components of the deal have been hammered out and would see TM serve as the exclusive secondary ticketing services vendor to the NFL in exchange for annual payments to the league of $15-20 million dollars annually.
It isn't a done deal yet however. The report noted that eBay subsidiary StubHub is pondering to make a last minute counter-pitch. StubHub has the added advantage of already providing similar services for Major League Baseball. Ticketsnow, and London-based Viagogo are also waiting in the wings if an opening should present itself.
Ticketmaster is currently a subsidiary of IAC/Interactive but the word on the street is that TM will be one of several IAC properties to be spun off in the near future. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
