SYRACUSE, NY (CelebrityAccess) — The Syracuse outlet of Toby Keith's branded bar and grill chain has abruptly shuttered, due to an apparently unresolvable dispute with The Destiny Mall that served as the eatery's home.
"There's a long history of ongoing back and forth between us and the Congels and the managers of the mall," John Thomas, vice president of operations at Toby Keith's told Syracuse Media Group reporter John Tampone. "It was one of those situations where we felt like it was unrepairable."
While the outlet was reportedly one of the restaurant chain's better performing locations, Thomas says that the mall's management made continued operation at the location impossible.
The dispute is already headed to court, with the Destiny Mall suing Toby Keith's chain for $1 million in unpaid rent while Toby Keith's is considering legal action as well, claiming that the mall violated the terms of the restaurant's lease after it let other music venues open outlets at the mall.
The restaurant, which opened in Syracuse in 2013, was one of the first major tenants for the mall's expansion, Syracuse Media said. – Staff Writers
