TOLEDO, OH (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Toledo city commissioners have reassembled a team of architects and constructions managers to build a new $80 million multipurpose arena, which is slated to open by fall 2009.
Officials also announced that they had struck a deal with SMG to manage the arena once open.
SMG senior general manager Joe Mazur told the Toledo Blade that the company is already talking about Toledo to promoters and that the company will work to fill the arena and convention center with concerts, shows and conventions “as soon as contracts are signed.”
Saying that the company is involved with more than 200 facilities around the world, Mazur assured the paper that SMG will use its network to “get Toledo on the map.”
“You don’t need the bricks and mortar to be finished in order to sell it,” he told the paper.
Demolition of the existing structures is expected to begin as early as this summer. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
