NEWCASTLE & LEEDS, UK (CelebrityAccess) — SMG Europe has appointed veteran facilities execs Jen Mitchell and Ailsa Oliver as General Managers of the Leeds First Direct Arena and Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena respectively.
Mitchell joins the SMG Europe group following eight years at the helm of Kings Place, London’s arts and entertainment complex comprising of two concert halls, art gallery, restaurant and conference facilities. Mitchell’s portfolio also includes event management roles within Leicester and Lincolnshire councils, as well as Qatar’s 15th Doha Asian Games.
Oliver, who joined SMG Europe in 1995, returns to her native Metro Radio Arena after four years as Deputy General Manager of Leeds’ first direct arena.
Oliver returns to her home city of Newcastle after serving on the launch team as Deputy General Manager of Leeds’ First Direct Arena. Prior to her role in Leeds, Ailsa was Director of Playhouse Whitley Bay and Newcastle’s Journal Tyne Theatre.
Mitchell starts her new billet in May, stepping in for the departing Ben Williams. Oliver starts in her new role immediately, replacing Paul Tappenden who retired last year. – Staff Writers
