Wembley Welcomes MOBO For 2008

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — This year’s 13th MOBO, Music Of Black Origin, Awards Show is being held on Wednesday 15 October at Wembley Arena.

Commenting on the coup for 12,000 seat capacity Wembley Arena, Paul Latham,
president of Live Nation UK commented:

“We’re absolutely delighted that MOBO has selected Wembley Arena to be the
venue for this year’s most exciting MOBO Awards Show ever. As the UK’s
longest-established and iconic music venue, we’re looking forward to welcoming
thousands of MOBO music fans to Wembley and I’m confident we’ll put on a show
that they’re going to remember for a long time to come!”

Gareth Daniel, CEO, Brent Council was equally enthusiastic. “It’s fantastic that
such a prestigious show as the MOBO Awards is coming to Wembley. We are
extremely proud of Brent’s rich cultural diversity and excited to see the borough
host this internationally-renowned event in this truly world-class destination. I’m
sure it will provide inspiration to all our residents."

This year’s MOBO Awards Show will reach a global audience in over 75 countries
spanning 5 continents and in the UK is being broadcast on the night by BBC
Three with highlights on BBC One.

The Nominations for this year’s hotly contested categories will be announced
early next month and will be put to a public vote with the results announced at
the MOBO Awards Show.

MOBO founder Kanya King MBE said “The enthusiasm, commitment and level of
support we’ve received from Wembley as well as the local community and Brent
Council for the MOBO Awards Show to come to Wembley has been simply
incredible. Many of our performers can’t wait to go on stage and say those iconic
words, ‘Hello Wembley!’

Local Brent MP Dawn Butler added “It’s appropriate that Europe’s leading black
Music Award Show comes to celebrate in the London borough of Brent that can
claim to have the most diverse population anywhere in the UK. I hope this is the
beginning of a wonderful union of MOBO Music and Brent soul”

For the past three years, Western Union has been headline sponsor of the MOBO
Awards Show. It’s Regional Vice President Rajiv Garodia added: “We are
delighted and proud to be headline sponsor of the MOBO Awards Show for the
third year running, and excited that the Awards have attracted such a
considerable level of interest across the world. Western Union is committed to
supporting the initiatives and celebrating the cultures of the diverse communities
we serve.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
