Work Progresses On The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center

OLD SAYBROOK, CT (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The seaside town of Old Saybrook, Connecticut is growing closer to being the home of a brand new, state-of-the-art theater, a part of the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and Theater project currently under construction there.

The $4.7 million dollar project, slated to open in the summer of 2008, is being built in the town that the actress called home for many years. By an odd coincidence, the construction site is located on the grounds of the old town hall, which had previously been home to another theater in the early 1900s.

An auction of some of the actress' memorabilia was auctioned off on May 13th in a fund raiser staged to benefit the project. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 1st. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
