(CelebrityAccess) — Gorillaz co-creator Damon Albarn turns out not to be a big fan of the controversial rapper Kanye West.

In an interview with French publication L’obs, the former Blur frontman reveals that he thinks West has an “abusive relationship” with Paul McCartney.

Kanye came up in the conversation when the interviewer mentioned Kanye’s sampling style in comparison to Albarn’s work with Gorillaz.

“Do not get me started on Kanye West … Kanye West trapped Paul McCartney,” Albarn replied.

“It’s rude,” Albarn added. “I have a problem with this abusive collaboration: we’re talking about Paul McCartney, but he’s so precious! We do not hear him in the song, Kanye West thinks only of Kanye West, uses a name to make headlines, to say ‘McCartney is in my song’ ”

Albarn appears to be referring to McCartney’s 2015 collaboration with West. McCartney has credits on several Kanye tracks, including “All Day,” “Only One,” and “FourFiveSeconds” though it is not always clear how Sir Paul contributed to the material.

Albarn believes that Kanye trimmed most of McCartney’s additions out, noting that he included McCartney in the video of one of the songs, playing guitar with Rihanna, but said West didn’t’ actually include the guitar in the original track.

Albarn also told the publication that he warned McCartney against working with West.

“Before he decided to work with Kanye West, I sent a text message to McCartney saying, ‘beware’, but he ignored it, he does what he wants, it’s Paul McCartney … Kanye West is one of those people who feed on other people,” Albarn told L’Obs.
