NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) The Broadway musical “Chicago” in New York has launched with the darkest of news: the death of a cast member who claims he was “bullied” by the show’s directors.

Jeff Loeffehloz has been a cast member for 22 years. He claimed that director Walter Bobbie and musical director Leslie Stifelman wanted him out of the production but couldn’t fire him because of his contract. Instead, the pair allegedly through “a tortuous rehearsal” on June 22 got him to quit the show.

“The producers of ‘Chicago’ are devastated by Jeff Loeffelholz’s death,” the producers told the New York Post. “The producers are taking this matter very seriously, and are fully committed to finding out exactly what transpired. To that end, I have been retained to conduct an exhaustive investigation on an expedited basis.”

A source told Page Six that this behavior is common.
