MARMANDE, France (CelebrityAccess) — Olympia Productions, Vivendi’s French concerts, and festival production company, announced that it has agreed to acquire Garorock, one of the largest music festivals in France.
Garorock, which takes place annually in Marmande in South-West France, started two decades ago as an indie rock, pop and altnernative-focsed event.
This year, the festival, which took place from June 28th through July 1st, featured a lineup headlined by Indochine, DJ Snake, Marilyn Manson, Macklemore, Damso, Orelsan, and numerous others. This year, the festival drew a crowd of more than 145,000 over four days.
The deal is the lastest live event acquisition for Olympia and its sister company, U-Live in the UK, as part of a broader push by Vivendi to diversify into the live music space.
Other key French festival brands owned by Olympia Productions, include Les Déferlantes, Live au Campo in Perpignan (Catalan country) and Brive Festival in Brive-la-Gaillarde (South West of France). The three festivals attracted record crowds in July 2018: their attendance rates grew by 17%, 15%, and 30%, respectively.
Olympia Productions also produces events for more than 35 artists (mainly music and comedy) with both established and up-and-coming artists, and covering a wide variety of genres.
