LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — It turns out that Britney Spears’ recently announced “indefinite work hiatus” will also see her upcoming album postponed as well.
The album, which was tied to her 32-show LasVegas residency, is now on hold for the foreseeable future, according to a report in Variety.
Spears announced earlier this week that she was putting her career on pause while she helps her father Jamie Spears with what has been described as a life-threatening health crisis in the wake of a ruptured colon late last year.
Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, told Variety: “Everything is on hold right now until Jamie is better. But once he is, she will resume working on the album with [executive producer] Justin Trantor]. Right now, she’s taking some time off to deal with these family issues.”
As for how long the indefinite part of the hiatus will actually be, that’s hard to say. As Variety noted, her creative directors for Domination, Napoleon and Tabitha (known as Nappy Tabs) suggested that the downtime could last as long as a year.
The residency was due to start on February 17th.
