MUNICH, Germany (CelebrityAccess) Danish architect 3XN has been chosen to design a new multipurpose sports arena in Munich, Germany.
The arena will be home to German ice hockey champions Munich Red Bulls and basketball champs FC Bayern Munich, and will be located in Olympiapark, a historical setting for modern architecture, according to Pan Stadia.
The design will follow the motto fo the 1972 Olympics, “Olympic Games in the green” and will blend with the grassy area surrounding the venue.
“Throughout the design process we have consistently sought to consider and understand the thinking that shaped the original design often pausing to ask ourselves, what would Günter Behnisch have done,” 3XN’s Jan Ammundsen said. “It was important for us to create a flexible and versatile arena with a strong identity that shows respect towards the history and vision of Olympiapark.”
The building will contain three training rinks, changing rooms, offices, a rooftop bar, a cafe and an underground car park.
