LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Martha Reeves has been named as a recipient of the 2019 Casino Entertainment Legend Award.
The award, which recognizes lifetime achievement in the casino entertainment industry, will be presented at the seventh annual Casino Entertainment Awards (CEA) on Wednesday, October 16 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in Vinyl at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
Reeves, who scored hits with the Vandellas such as “Come & Get These Memories,” “Heat Wave,” “Nowhere to Run,” “I’m Ready for Love,” “Jimmy Mack” and her signature, “Dancing in The Street,” is a member of the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll, Soul, Rhythm and Blues Music, Vocal Group and Alabama Music halls of fame.
A former elected councilwoman for the City of Detroit, she has been an advocate on behalf of musicians, session singers, and recording artists for better wages and royalties.
Neil J. Miller, who currently serves as Executive Director of Entertainment, The Venetian and Palazzo Resorts (Las Vegas Sands Corp.) also will be honored with a Casino Entertainment Legend Award.
Miller has been developing large scale entertainment properties for casinos, theaters and theme parks for more than three decades, including stints as Director of Entertainment for Caesars World Inc. and National Vice President of Entertainment for Harrah’s Entertainment Corp.
In his current gig as Executive Director of Entertainment for The Venetian and Palazzo Resorts, he oversees a $50 million annual budget and the sale of 2.4 million tickets annually.
Casino Entertainment Awards will be presented to artists, executives, and venues in nine categories in casino entertainment. Selected from more than 1,500 online nominations, 2019 CEA Award Nominees include:
