Metallica fans in New Zealand who bought tickets for shows on Metallica’s postponed tour through secondary ticketing website Viagogo may be out of luck when it comes to refunds.
According to the New Zealand Herald, the online ticket reseller sent fans who purchased physical tickets to Metallica shows emailed instructions that require physical tickets to be mailed to Ireland in order to claim a refund.
Compounding matters for fans is Viagogo set a very narrow deadline that requires the tickets to be postmarked by October 7th.
“In order to ensure tickets are received in time, we recommend you use a trackable postage method to return the tickets to us. Any tickets not returned in time will not be eligible for a refund. Please note we are unable to refund you for the return postage,” Viagogo wrote in their email to ticketholders, according to the Herald.
Fans with digital tickets can seek refunds via email.
In a statement to the Herald, Viagogo said that it guarantees a full refund on tickets, including shipping costs, if an event is canceled.
“In some cases, for instance in transactions where paper tickets have already been shipped to buyers, Viagogo may ask customers to return their tickets in order to be refunded,” the statement said.
