LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Veteran label exec Jeff Vaughn has been appointed President of Capitol Records, where he will report to Capitol Music Group Chairman & CEO Steve Barnett.

In his newly-created role at Capitol, Vaughn will leverage his experience in A&R to develop the storied label, as well as working closely with Barnett and members of his executive management team.

Vaughn will be based in CMG’s headquarters in the Capitol Tower in Los Angeles and will take up his new duties effective January 1st.

“I want to thank Steve and Lucian for giving me the opportunity to shape the future of such an iconic label. As an A&R executive, I am driven by an intense devotion to artists and songs that defy expectation and challenge us to think differently. I could not be more excited to champion this perspective in my new role at Capitol,” Vaughn said.

Prior to his new gig at Capitol, Vaughn was Vice President of A&R at the Los Angeles-based Artist Partner Group, a part of Warner Music Group’s Atlantic Records—and Artist Publishing Group, which he joined at its founding in 2013.

Jeff Vaughn began his career in the mailroom at talent agency UTA.
