LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Tim “Herb” Alexander, the longtime drummer for the iconic rock band Primus, has officially announced his departure from the group. Alexander, known for his intricate drumming style that helped shape Primus’ unique sound, has been a key part of the band since the early ’90s, contributing to some of their most acclaimed albums, including Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Pork Soda, and Tales from the Punchbowl.

The band, led by bassist and vocalist Les Claypool, issued a statement on social media confirming Alexander’s exit, expressing both gratitude and admiration for his years of service: “Tim has been a vital part of the Primus journey. We’re incredibly thankful for everything he’s brought to the band and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

This marks Alexander’s second major departure from Primus, having previously left the band in 1996 before rejoining in 2003. His technical drumming and creative contributions are widely considered to have been essential to Primus’ experimental and progressive rock sound.

Alexander also shared his thoughts on leaving, stating, “It’s been an incredible ride with Primus, but I’ve decided to step away and explore new musical ventures. I’m grateful for all the amazing experiences and will always cherish my time with the band.”

Fans are speculating about what’s next for both Primus and Alexander. While there’s no word yet on a replacement, the band has hinted at continuing with their tour schedule and future projects, leaving the door open for new collaborations.
