TENNESSEE (CelebrityAccess) – Bob Bryar, the former drummer of My Chemical Romance, passed away at 44. He was found in his Tennessee home on Sunday (November 26) after being reported missing earlier in the month. Authorities have confirmed there was no foul play, and none of Bryar’s possessions, including musical equipment and weapons, were taken, according to TMZ.
Animal control was called to his residence to remove two dogs after his body, which had been decomposing, was discovered. The cause of death is still unknown at press time.
My Chemical Romance released a statement through a representative to Billboard: “The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s passing.”
Bryar joined My Chemical Romance in 2004, replacing their original drummer, Matt Pelissier, shortly after releasing Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. He became an integral part of the band, contributing to their rise to fame and playing a key role in their iconic 2006 album The Black Parade, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Though Bryar contributed to the band’s 2010 album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, he left the group before the album’s release.
At his departure, guitarist Frank Iero shared: “This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.”
After leaving music, Bryar became a real estate agent and dedicated his time to dog rescue charities and sanctuaries. Earlier this month, My Chemical Romance announced a 2025 stadium tour where they will perform The Black Parade in full. Bryar was not scheduled to participate in these performances.
RIP.
