BOSTON (CelebrityAccess) — Cindy Blackman Santana, the bandleader and jazz and rock drummer, has signed with Boston-based talent boutique The Kurland Agency for worldwide representation.
After starting her career as a street busker in the 1980s, Blackman Santana has gone on to work with musical luminaries such as Pharoah Sanders, Cassandra Wilson, Bill Laswell, Joss Stone, Joe Henderson, Buckethead, Don Pullen, Hugh Masakela, and Angela Bofill.
She spent almost two decades as the drummer for Lenny Kravitz’s band and joined forces with Vernon Reid, Jack Bruce and John Medeski to form the critically acclaimed Spectrum Road, showcasing the music of Tony Williams.
Starting in 2016, she has been a full-time member of the legendary rock band Santana.
Her recent solo album, Give the Drummer Some, was released on Present Future in 2020.
