SARASOTA (CelebrityAccess) — Dickey Betts, a founding member and former guitarist for the iconic rock band the Allman Brothers, is recovering after undergoing brain surgery.
“Hey Dickey fans, your thoughts and prayers helped make this surgery a success,” David Spero, Betts’ manager. “More details later!”
According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Betts manager David Spero said that the surgery had been successful and promised more details soon.
The 76-year-old musician and songwriter underwent surgery to relieve bleeding in his brain after suffering striking his head earlier this week in a fall while playing with his family dog.
In a post to Facebook earlier this week, Spero noted that was listed “in critical but stable condition.”
Late last month, Betts was forced to postpone several upcoming shows after he suffered from what was described as a mild stroke.
“It was just a few days ago that Dickey was telling me how excited he was to get back in front of the fans on November 1,” Spero said via social media on Wednesday. “It is very unfortunate, for all involved, that we need to cancel those shows. Please add Dickey into your thoughts and prayers.”
