LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Academy Music Group has entered into long-term lease deals with new venues in the cities of Sheffield and Leeds in Northern England and has another deal in the works for Brighton.
According to Billboard, AMG is planning to rebuild the former Town & Country Club in Leeds, the old Roxy in Sheffield, while The Brighton deal is focused on the Hippodrome. All three of these new facilities will get the Academy brand.
"It's just a progression of my vision for the company, that every major location in the U.K. would have an Academy Music venue," John Northcote, CEO of AMG, told Billboard "Brighton, Sheffield and Leeds are three major U.K. towns and cities which don't have a quality mid-range, live music venue."
AMG already operates venues in cities stretching across the United Kingdom, from London to Glasgow. The new shops should be open for business by 2008 with capacities of more than 2000. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
