AEG Sells Britain’s MEN Arena

MANCHESTER, UK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Anschutz Entertainment Group has sold the Manchester Evening News Arena in a £62 million deal with a joint venture between Capital & Regional and GE Real Estate UK. AEG acquired the 20,000-seat concert venue in 2004 for £50 million.

A spokesman for the arena, which recently hosted concerts by Take That, The Eagles, Sir Elton John and Bruce Springsteen, told the Manchester Evening News that the sale would not interrupt facility operations and it would remain business as usual.

“The Manchester Evening News Arena is operated by SMG Europe and this is not affected by any change in the landlord or ownership of Victoria Exchange,” said the spokesman.

“We can reassure Manchester’s music fans that it remains business as usual at Europe’s number one indoor concert arena.”

The deal also includes a 1,000-space car park as well as offices and ancillary retail operations. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
