DENVER, CO (CelebrityAccess) — Online electronic music vendor Beatport is reportdly in development to relaunch the site as an EDM streaming service.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the new streaming service is expected to launch in 2015 with an ad-supported and on-demand streaming model, as well as social media and community functionality. Beatport will also be brought into line to support and market festivals and events produced by Beatport's owner, SFX Entertainment.
Beatport is also expected to continue to offer music purchases via download as well.
SFX acquired Beatport in early 2013, in the first wave of EDM property purchases and was widely considered to be a canny acquisition at the time. Beatport continues to have a high profile in the EDM community and services a growing market with a wide range of indie EDM. – Staff Writers
