Belleayre Music Festival On Hiatus For 2015

CATSKILLS, NY (CelebrityAccess) — Citing funding shortfalls, organizers for the annual Belleayre Music Festival say the summer concert series would be going on hiatus for 2015.

The Belleayre Conservatory, who produce the event, said that production costs and rising artist costs had left the organization unable to stage the event this year. However, they expect the concert series will return in 2016.

The annual concert series, which has been staged for the past 23 years at the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, has in the past featured performers such as Ray Charles, Buddy Guy, Herbie Hancock, Lyle Lovett, Vince Gill and k.d. lang, among others.

“The Board of Directors of the Belleayre Conservatory, which has presented the Belleayre Music Festival for the last 23 years, has decided to put the 2015 festival on hiatus while it reviews opportunities for a newly envisioned Belleayre Music Festival for 2016 and beyond,” the Conservatory said in a prepared statement. “For most of the last 23 years, the festival has been very successful financially. Recently rising artist costs and production expenses have contributed to growing shortfalls. Keeping ticket prices at an affordable level has necessitated balancing the budget through increased fundraising efforts, foundation grants and individual gifts, which has become ever more difficult.” – Staff Writers
