MELBOURNE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Although the summer festival season is winding down in the northern hemisphere, its just getting ramped up for our summer cousins and Australian touring festival Big Day Out has dished their lineup for 2011.
BDO will run next year from Jan. 21st to Feb. 6th with a lineup featuring Tool, Rammstein, M.I.A., Iggy & The Stooges and LCD Soundsystem, Grinderman, Wolfmother, Bliss N Eso, Angus and Julia Stone and Airbourne.
"This is by far our biggest and most diverse announcement ever. As well as the many incredible first timers on offer, we are enthusiastically welcoming back several iconic BDO veterans. They are some of the most exciting and uncompromising artists performing live today. We believe this combination of extremes for 2011 will create a spectacular event." said the event's organizers, Ken West and Vivian Lees in a statement.
The tour kicks off in Auckland, New Zealand on Jan. 21st and then heads for Australia's Gold Cost on Jan. 23, Sydney on Jan. 26, Melbourne on Jan. 30, Adelaide on Feb. 4 and Perth on Feb. 6th.
BDO got its start in 1992 with a single-city show in Sydney, headlined by the Violet Femmes and featuring a then little-known Kurt Cobain. Since then, BDO has grown to be Australia's biggest touring festival event, with the show's producers, Creative Festival Entertainment, notching up their 100th show last year.
