Cagle Set For Trial

TUCSON, AZ (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Country star Chris Cagle's trial got underway in Tucson today. Cagle had been charged with misdemeanor assault assault following a scuffle on December 13 outside of a Tucson nightclub, the Tucson Citizen newspaper reports.

Cagle was charged after he allegedly punched a Tucson man named Mark Barry after Barry's girlfriend became verbally abusive when Cagle declined to sign an autograph. Police reported that the perfomer had already signed several autographs for the woman.

Cagle's attorney claimed on Monday, during a pretrial hearing, that the singer acted in self defense, the Tucson Citizen reported.

Barry has reportedly filed a civil suit against both Cagle and his sound engineer, Ken Hoyt, who has been identified as a witness for the defense in the trial. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
