County To Rebuild Storm-Damaged Arena

BILLINGS, Montana (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Yellowstone County has announced that they plan to rebuild the Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings, which was damaged earlier this month in a tornado.

County officials had been openly talking about demolishing the 12,000 seat arena, which suffered extensive damage from a tornado on June 20th, however engineers have determined that the primary structure of the building was largely intact, opening the door to a refurb, Arena Digest reported.

According to the Billings Gazette, the city has retained the construction consulting firm Hulteng CCM to oversee the rehabilitation of the venue. While it is too early for an estimated cost for the rehab, the county remains confident that the expense will be more than covered by the insurance on the arena.

Another company, RestorX, has been hired to begin clearing the site and salvaging any usable equipment and materials from the debris.

The original construction at the arena was completed in 1975 and the building currently serves as a home to arena football team, the Billings Outlaws. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
