Durham Performing Arts Center’s Celebrated Successful First Year

DURHAM, NC (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center’s successful first year was celebrated on Monday, November 30th on the eve of the new live entertainment venue’s one year anniversary. Throughout the year DPAC produced over 100 ticketed events and welcomed the 250,000 patron through the doors on Friday evening of the #1 musical of all time, “The Phantom of the Opera.”

DPAC was ready and celebrated this accomplishment by surprising the patron that received this title with an extraordinary evening. One lucky patron was announced Friday evening and won the DPAC Golden Ticket, allowing them to accept season tickets to all remaining SunTrust Broadway Series shows including the most anticipated show to come to the Triangle, WICKED.

“We are elated to have made it to this milestone; more people have walked through the doors at DPAC than the whole population of Durham. Our new benchmark is to reach the population of the Triangle, and we are confident we can get there,” states director of marketing Linda Charlton.

DPAC reached the goal of obtaining 10,000 season subscribers during the second SunTrust Broadway Series; celebrated a year of over 100 successful events including artists B.B. King and Jackson Browne and comedians Robin Williams and Bill Cosby; opened two national touring shows including the legendary Steely Dan and phenomenon Cirque Dreams Illumination; and NOW entertains more than 250,000 people in the greater Triangle region.

“It is only fitting that our 250,000 patron would be during Broadway’s longest running musical Phantom of the Opera. We want to share our excitement with our patrons and dedicate ourselves to continue making DPAC a venue for a fantastic experience that wants you to come back for more,” said general manager of DPAC Bob Klaus.

DPAC’s 250,000 patron, Jenny King, arrived at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, December 4th during “The Phantom of the Opera” and the staff was waiting with the prized Golden Ticket. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
