Garth Supports New CD With Mini Tour; Plugs Dr. Pepper

Garth Brooks announced his retirement from touring last year. But to support his first CD in four years, Scarecrow, Brooks is going out on a three-city tour.

On Nov. 14, the day after his CD comes out, Brooks will perform the first of three one-hour concert specials airing on CBS, each from a different city with a different lineup of guest stars on subsequent Wednesdays

"CBS has given me an opportunity to take the music to the people in a new way, to have the fun of performing it live, and do it in such a way that I don't have to be away from home for long periods of time,” said Brooks.

The first show will air from The Forum in Los Angeles. On Nov. 21, Brooks will perform aboard aircraft carrier USS Enterprise upon its return from the Middle East to Norfolk, Va., and perform for the crew and their families.

The site of the Nov. 28 show will remain undisclosed.

In other news, Brooks has signed a major contract to do ads for Dr. Pepper. The spots are his first-ever product endorsement. Some of the spots will contain short mentions of his new Scarecrow album, and the bottler plans a discount coupon tie-in with the CD.
