NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — After more than a decade at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Grammy Awards are considering a return to New York in 2018.
According to a report in the New York Times, the decision to hold the 60th annual awards in Madison Square Garden comes after months of negotiations between the Recording Academy and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office.
According to The Times, the move may have taken place sooner, but the financial costs of producing an event like the Grammys in New York, which organizers estimate to add "several million" to the cost of the event, as well as the design of the Staples Center, which was designed to house the show, made the decision to move harder.
Regardless of its potential new home at MSG, the Grammy Awards will take place at the Staples Center in 2017 on February 12th, with James Corden set to host the soiree. – Staff Writers
