Gulfport Plans A New Amphitheater

GULFPORT, Miss (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A committee of local business leaders and civic groups is working to revive a 72-year-old park in Gulfport Mississippi and their plans may include a new 8,000-seat amphitheater.

According to The SunHerald, Friends of Jones Park, led by local notable Laura Warr has been working assiduously to raise public awareness of the park's potential. Their hard work has apparently paid off as the City of Gulfport has begun planning an $8 million overhaul of the property, including adding the aforementioned amphitheater as well as a "squirt" park for local kids, a memorial to fallen heroes and expansive new parking facilities.

"This will be the work of several years, but every season will see a bit more done and a new layer added," Warr told the The SunHerald.

Some plans are still in the design phase, but the Friends expect to start site work, including landscaping as early as a few week. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
