Jay-Z Likely To Ink Distribution Deal With Epic

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Jay-Z is edging closer to signing a deal to with Sony's Epic Records for distribution of releases on his Roc Nation label.

According to Billboard, sources close to the matter have stated that the deal is 95% complete and a formal announcement will be forthcoming.

Jay-Z had been a longtime feature on Def Jam's roster but announced he was departing the label last week and has since been seen in meetings with Sony CEO Howard Stringer, Billboard said.

How this will affect Jay-Z's 10-year "360" deal with Live Nation, a deal that included recordings, is not entirely clear. Jay-Z's released eleven solo albums over the course of his career and including collaborations, he has sold more than 29 million albums, according to Nielsen Soundscan. His forthcoming album, "The Blueprint 3" is in the works. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
