Legendary California Punk Club Owner Dies

BERKELEY, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The founder of the legendary Ruthie’s Inn in Berkeley, a mecca for San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal and punk acts in the 1980s, has reportedly died at the age of 77 after falling down a flight of stairs in his studio in Oakland on December 31st.

Wes Robinson had been busy working on a documentary about Ruthie’s Inn, feature footage shot at a club “reunion show” on September 23, 2006.

Robinson’s club reached legendary status, pulling in acts such as Bad Brains, Social Distortion, Metallica, Exodus, Possessed and Death Angel. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
