ROCKFORD, IL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Brian Luther has been named (officially) as the general manager for the 10,000-seat MetroCentre Arena.
According to the Rockford Register-Star, the MetroCentre Authority Board decided to give Luther the official title to the job after he had held the position in an interim basis since early last year. Luther stepped in to replace Corey Pearson, who resigned from the post in April 2009 amidst a period of financial turmoil at the arena.
Luther told the Register-Star that he was pleased with the decision. "I never considered myself the interim general manager," Luther said.
Although Luther held the post in an interim capacity for almost a year, the MetroCentre Authority Board says that they were never actively considering instituting a search for a new general manager.
“We have not considered a national search because he has done an outstanding job," MetroCentre Authority Board Chairwoman Rita Pirrello-Epperson told the Register-Star, "I was in favor of naming him general manager instead of interim because has always worked like a general manager." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
