Massive Attack Plan 2 Albums In A Year

MASSIVE ATTACK plan to release two albums within a year – after spending four years on the follow-up to 'MEZZANINE'.

The group hasn’t released a new album since 1998, with founder Robert '3-D' Del Naja the only bandmember working full-time on the record.

He is now in a London studio working on the final stages of mixing on the currently untitled album.

Writing to fans on the Massive Attack website, he said that the band will tour in the new year, starting in the Far East, and that another "less precious" album will follow within 12 months.

He wrote: "The loops on this record are sampled from ourselves. At the start of 'Mezzanine' I looped up new wave stuff to get away from the soul reggae parts. This record, we feel, has more depth than 'Mez'.

"Will start recording new, less precious material to release one year from LP 4. Very soon. No pressure, more disposable. How refreshing."

3-D is now working on artwork for the album, which is set for release in the autumn.
